About The Werx: Meet Andy Kirk

My day-to-day job has seen me in the role of CAD Manager and currently as Head of CAD & Visualisation at a Consulting Naval Architects since 2008. I’ve been involved in the design of a plethora of ships and ferries. I now bring this wealth of design experience into Kirk Werx.
My journey into the realm of supercharger technology began around 2008 when I crossed paths with Jose Mercado, the owner of MercRacing, on an automotive forum while working on my own mid-engine, rear wheel drive, supercharged Honda K-swap classic mini project.
Fascinated by the Jackson Racing supercharger system I was implementing, I leveraged my CAD skills to create detailed 3D models of the setup. The positive reception and interest sparked by these models led to a fruitful collaboration with Jose, laying the foundation for our professional relationship.
In addition to my work in Naval Architecture and supercharger manifold design, I have a passion for hands-on projects. During the early days of 3D printing and before the widespread use of 3D scanning, I designed numerous parts for my classic mini build, relying on manual measurements and nascent printing technology. This hands-on approach not only honed my design skills but also provided valuable practical experience, bridging the gap between concept and execution.
With a fresh mini build on the horizon (2026), I find myself with an opportunity to design some unique parts for the build, showcasing more design skills to put together what will be a very exciting project.
Beyond automotive and maritime pursuits, I have also dabbled in civil architectural design and construction. From conceptualizing the design, drafting plans and writing a building specification for a home extension, to actively participating in the building process alongside a dedicated team, I embraced diverse challenges outside my core expertise.
My creative spirit extends beyond professional endeavours, evidenced by my collaboration on a gravity racer project and ongoing pursuit of design refinement. As I embark on the journey of turning my passion into my profession, I am excited to explore new opportunities and challenges, pushing the boundaries of innovation in the aftermarket automotive and engineering spheres.
If you've got an idea that you'd like me to bring to life, by way of CAD Design and or 3D Printing, get in touch.
